Art Club

“…Art Club at the Stanley Picker Gallery is so much fun because we get to try out lots of different things and meet real artists.” Art Club Member (aged 9)

The Gallery stages regular creative activities and events, including a Saturday Art Club, saT CHAT and Wednesday Meetups, with contributions from visiting artists and designers that encourage the open exchange of ideas, hands-on experimentation and making new friends. Current activity takes inspiration from 20 years of Stanley Picker Gallery and Fellowships in Art and Design.

Coming Soon: Drop-in anytime activities suitable for individuals and families with children of all ages. Free / Booking where stated.

Events 2017

Static – student curated exhibition & performance: Launch Wed 10 May 5-7pm / Open until 13 May 11am-5pm
Performance, print and installation inspired by the impact of society and individuals interaction with screens and each other, presented by Kingston University Staff and Wimbledon MA Fine Art students.

Gallery Breakfast & Art Club: Sat 13 May 11am-1pm
An opportunity for visitors of all ages to meet Gallery staff for coffee, juice and a pastry (if you get here early enough!) to look around our current exhibition and find out about our upcoming programme. Includes creative activities for children.

Live Performances: Sat 13 May, time TBC
Experimental and improvised performances with practitioner and Stanley Picker Gallery Assistant Antonis Sidaris, and students from Wimbledon School of Art.

Afternoon Tea with a Twist – Interactive Performance: Wed 24 May 5-7pm
Kingston University Product Design student Lara Chapman hosts and afternoon of dining interactions using her alternative tableware. Booking tbc.

Social Body Mind Map – exhibition of practical research: Launch Wed 17 May 5-7pm / Open until 20 May 11am-5pm
Presentation of drawings, photography and text by Dr Dean Kenning , Research Fellow from the Contemporary Art Research Centre (CARC), Kingston University.

Guided Tour of Kingston University Undergraduate Degree Show 2017: Sat 3 June 2pm / departure 2.15pm
Join SPG team members to the exhibited achievements of the latest crop of graduates from Kingston University’s Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture.

Drawing and design inspired by selected moments from 20 years of Stanley Picker Gallery

Participation Exhibition: Launch Wed 28 June 4-7pm / Open until 8 July 11am-5pm
Showcase of new work made in collaboration by members of the local community which has been inspired by designer Yemi Awosile and her fellowship exhibition, Orishirishi.
