As part of FRAUD’s Stanley Picker Fellowship exhibition, A Simultaneous Agreement, the Gallery is hosting a Bathing Request Public Consultation to gather public views and support. The consultation will contribute to the evidence required for an application to DEFRA (the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) seeking designated bathing water status for a section of the Hogsmill River near the Gallery. If you would like to participate in the request you can fill in this form with your views and this information will be submitted to DEFRA as part of the application.
To coincide with the consultation period the Gallery hosted a series of Hogsmill Community Events, including workshops, guided walks, panel discussions, screenings, citizen science activities, and informal gatherings. The programme was developed in collaboration with members of the community, who proposed activities that raised awareness of the Hogsmill River by exploring its current ecological condition, tracing its histories, and inviting participants to speculate on its future. The programme helps to demonstrate public interest, use, and care for the Hogsmill River and helps the artists to develop diverse forms of evidence.
