THE SHOW'S NOT OVER ! Sophie Huckfield and Alternative Productions

Join us for our next Stanley Picker Gallery Late to see a new scenes from “The Participation Waltz”, collectively created and performed by BA Drama and Dance students in collaboration with Dr Caoimhe Mader McGuinness and Sophie Huckfield.

Over five weeks, Dr Caoimhe Mader McGuinness and Sophie Huckfield will work in the gallery with Performing Arts students at Kingston University to deconstruct the 1976 play the ”The Participation Waltz”. Students will be invited to connect the history of workers theatre with contemporary questions around work, demilitarization, democracy and education. Responding to the installation, artworks and archival materials in the gallery, students will experiments with agit-prop, physical theatre, clowning and site-responsive performance, moving between performer, participant and audience to test multiple possibilities.

Rehearsals will be taking place on the following Thursday afternoons:

15 October 2-4pm

22 October 2-4pm with a Theatre of the Oppressed workshop from Naresh Kaushal from Rainbow of Desire.

12 November 2-4pm

19 November 2-4pm

26th November 2-4pm.

Public are welcome to visit during these times however the gallery will be in use with the performance group Alternative Production(s)  and Kingston School of Performing Arts.
