Stanley Picker Gallery is excited to continue running our popular Saturday Art Clubs for children and young people of the local community who are enthusiastic about art and design. Workshops are FREE for all and run each weekend, 11am-12.30pm (ages 7-11) and 2-3.30pm (ages 14-18).
Sessions are led by a team of Kingston School of Art students and alumni, and this term complement the gallery’s current exhibition, Thomas Pausz Haunted Ecologies. Through an immersive installation of moving image, print, filtration sculptures and sound, the show considers how our perception of contemporary environment and culture can be haunted by spectres of the past, and by hopes and visions of the future. Pausz’s research reflects upon transformations of local ecosystems, in particular the Hogsmill River that surrounds Stanley Picker Gallery, and flows alongside the Hogsmill Community Garden, who are partners for this exhibition and will be host to some activity.
Young artists will delve into the themes of the exhibition in fun and engaging ways – combining interactive games, making, drawing, and discussion – as they explore the practice and processes of contemporary artists and learn new techniques.
Parents are encouraged to drop their young people off and return at the end of the session, to see what has been going on and visit the exhibition together.

Clothing Occasionally, activities can be messy. We do our best with cover ups and water-based resources, but please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.
Gallery Location & Accessibility Stanley Picker Gallery is an accessible venue, situated on a small island on the Hogsmill River, behind Kingston School of Art, an approx. 10-minute walk from Kingston Town Centre. We have free onsite parking. For directions visit www.stanleypickergallery.org/about/visit/ Please note that the main gallery lights will dimmed, and large-scale projections are accompanied by a water-themed soundtrack. The journey between sites, and the majority of the garden, is step-free but has some uneven pathway. Members of our team will be on hand to offer support wherever needed, and if you wish to discuss access requirements further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Sensory bags and visual stories are available upon request.
Booking Tickets are released fortnightly and booking is essential via Eventbrite. We welcome one-off or block bookings.
