Stanley Picker Fellowships in Design & Fine Art 2020

Call for Applicants

The Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is seeking to appoint two contemporary practitioners to the Stanley Picker Fellowships in Design & Fine Art 2020.

Each Fellowship provides up to £16,000 and valuable access to the extensive material workshops, technical resources and expertise within Kingston School of Art and the wider University departments, to support a practice-based, innovative research project that will result in an exhibition of international standing at the Stanley Picker Gallery. We are very pleased to announce that Onkar Kular and Jana Scholze will be joining us on the selection panel for the 2020 Stanley Picker Fellowships.

Onkar Kular is Professor of Design at HDK-Valand, Academy of Art & Design and Curator of The Common Room/Allmänningen, both at the University of Gothenburg. He is the co-organizer of Night School on Anarres and was artistic director of Open Week Gothenburg Design Festival in 2017. Kular previously led the Platform 13 design programme at the Royal College of Art, London (2008-15) and has curated exhibitions for The Citizens Archive of Pakistan, Karachi and the Crafts Council, UK. He was appointed a Stanley Picker Fellow at Kingston University in 2014. 

Jana Scholze is a curator and academic. She is Associate Professor at the Kingston School of Art and a Fellow at the Victoria and Albert Museum where she previously worked as a curator responsible for exhibitions such as ‘What is Luxury?’ in 2015. Her most recent publication is a monograph about the designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.
